DIBELS Measures

The probes to use for benchmark assessments (Fall, Winter, and Spring assessments of all students) are included on the page for that grade. See the links at the top of the page or on the menu bar to the left.

The links below to the individual measures include alternative forms of the probes for use in progress monitoring (more frequent assessment of lower-achieving students).

The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are comprised of the following measures:

• ISF: Initial Sounds Fluency
• LNF: Letter Naming Fluency
• PSF: Phoneme Segmentation Fluency
• NWF: Nonsense Word Fluency
• ORF: DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency
• RTF: Retell Fluency
• WUF: Word Use Fluency
